Before and After
A radiologist and his wife recently retired and are
downsizing to a patio home. The exterior of this new
residence is French Chateau. The existing fireplace
surround has an English - Adam style influence and
their bookshelf/entertainment center is nondescript.
The challenge was to create a fireplace facade and
bookshelf/entertainment center that is in harmony with the
exterior of the patio home and their Country French antiques.
The result was a stone fireplace facade with a
a heavy timber mantle and bookshelf/entertainment
center made of cypress - physically distressed, and
enhanced by fluted columns and barrel arches.
Careful attention is given to the hardware -- to assure
that it is in concert with the Country French flavor of the unit.
