Sub-Zero and Wolf Unveil New Booth at K/BIS
Jamie Drake and Mick De Giulio Create Unique Spaces
LAS VEGAS and MADISON, Wis., May 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Sub-Zero Freezer Co. and Wolf Appliance Co., a leading manufacturer in premium refrigeration and cooking appliances, today unveiled the inspiration behind their booth design at the 2007 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (K/BIS). Interior design masterminds, Jamie Drake of Drake Design, New York, NY and Mick De Giulio of de Giulio kitchen design, inc., Wilmette, Ill., created two separate spaces within the booth to challenge the design community by creating unexpected and thought-provoking applications for Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances.
"We are proud of the booth we are debuting today at K/BIS," said Jim Bakke, president and CEO of Sub-Zero Freezer Co. "We are able to emphasize Sub-Zero and Wolf's commitment to kitchen design, and Jamie and Mick have harnessed their personal creative inspiration to demonstrate our devotion to innovation in an interactive environment."
Jamie Drake's area stems from the magical mystique of the number seven -- seven deadly sins, Seven Wonders of the World, seven seas. The seven deadly sins is a creation featuring a Wolf rangetop with charbroiler set in a red hot peninsula, paired with a series of Wolf wall ovens and a floor afire with glowing embers. This design creates an appliance-focused environment that is presented to designers in an unexpected way. The other two designs also whimsically invoke the number "seven".
Mick De Giulio found inspiration in the sculptural design of the Pro 48 refrigerator and the Wolf range. His "sculpture garden" highlights the sleek and strong design of these appliances while using abstract concepts and media, such as light and film. The kaleidoscope area uses light to recreate the sense of surprise that customers feel when they open an armoire and find a refrigerator. This highlights the commitment Sub-Zero and Wolf have to the art of kitchen appliance concealment. Retrospective film allows viewers to experience the history and evolution of Sub-Zero and Wolf and understand the innovation commitment they possess.
