Third Annual Honor Awards Program From IIDA-Northern California Sets the Stage for Interior Design Excellence
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Over 800 members of Northern California's design community toasted the winners of the Honor Awards Celebration at the Masonic Auditorium last night. Sponsored by the Northern California Chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA-NC), the event was highlighted by a multimedia presentation of the award winners and an elegant reception in the Masonic's Grand Lobby. From 67 entries, 12 interior design projects were identified by the jury to receive recognition:
* Honor Awards: Work -- Fillmore Capital Partners office by Huntsman Architectural Group; Commercial -- One Thousand Steps retail store by Gensler, San Francisco; Institutional -- Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Building by IA Interior Architects; and Wild Card -- prAna trade show exhibit by Gensler, San Francisco
* Merit Awards: Personal -- Sonoma Vineyard residence by Aidlin Darling Design; Work -- Filmcore film editing office by Melander Architects, Inc.; Commercial -- Sino restaurant by EDG; and Institutional -- Lafayette Veterans Memorial by Field Paoli
* Honorable Mention Awards: Personal -- Greenwich Village Townhouse by Melander Architects, Inc.; Commercial -- World Savings Bank by Mark Horton/Architecture; Commercial -- Teance tea bar by Cheng Design; Institutional -- Merril-Cazier Library at Utah State University, Logan by EHDD Architecture
The biennial Chapter Honor Award was bestowed upon Steven McCollom, AIA, IIDA, an associate partner of Gary Lee Partners who has been a devoted volunteer for the Northern California Chapter of IIDA. IIDA-NC will award scholarships totaling a minimum of $9,000 in his honor in 2008 and 2009. Additionally, this year's Honor Awards celebration included the presentation of scholarships that recognize the emerging talent of the next generation of designers. Honor Award scholarships were awarded to students in FIDER- accredited programs in the Northern California Chapter's geographic region and from the alma mater of the previous Chapter Award recipient. The following students were recognized for their innovation at the gala event: Kerry Bogus, Class of 2008, California College of the Arts, $6,000; and Kimberly Kolkovich, Class of 2008, and Leah Sand, Class of 2007, Kansas State University, $1,500 each.
