Accessmount LLC Wins Design Journal Magazine's ADEX Platinum Award
Company's Product Developed in Association with MAGNET through Cuyahoga County's New Product Development and Entrepreneurship Loan Fund
CLEVELAND, April 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- MAGNET, the Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network, today announced that Accessmount LLC has received the ADEX Platinum Award for product design excellence from Design Journal Magazine. Design Journal is one of the most highly respected international trade magazines for architects, interior designers and facility managers.
Accessmount won for manufacturing "ladderless" light fixtures. Their innovative design allows the installation and removal of recessed downlighting fixtures in commercial and institutional settings without the difficulty, expense and danger of using ladders. Users can switch from incandescent fixtures to new, energy-saving fluorescent fixtures while retaining the safe, cost-effective maintenance provided by a pole-based light bulb unscrewer.
Such unscrewers can't be used on most compact fluorescent bulbs. Accessmount's new fixture uses a removable assembly that contains the bulb, ballast, reflector and trim. The entire assembly can be removed using a special pole-based removal tool while standing safely on the ground. The fixture is ideal for high ceilings in lobbies, hallways or anywhere that setting up ladders isn't a viable option.
To develop this new product, Nelson Pitlor, the inventor of the "ladderless" fixture concept, applied for and received funding from Cuyahoga County's Product Development and Entrepreneurship Loan Fund.
Established in 2005 by the County's Department of Development, the Fund is administered by MAGNET and has already provided $2 million to companies to create profitable products capable of generating new jobs and economic growth for our region. The County is providing another $1.25 million to MAGNET this year to continue this critical new product development program.
"Being recognized by Design Journal with their ADEX Platinum Award will help position Accessmount to achieve many additional orders for their innovative product. MAGNET is proud to have helped Accessmount engineer this new product and delighted to be working with Cuyahoga County's Department of Development to provide funds and expertise to individuals with the creative spark to invent new products," said MAGNET President Stephen Gage.
"MAGNET's assistance has been invaluable to our company. Without their design capabilities coupled with the County Loan Program, we would not have been able to introduce the award-winning products we have," said Pitlor.
