"The success of our business has been built on creativity and the lighting possibilities through the use of Fiberstars' EFO technology are limitless," said Rick Mulligan. "The unique fixture designs in our studio showcase the impact EFO can have on an elegant interior design and I'm excited to share these capabilities with current and future clients."
Based in Cologne, Germany, Rick Mulligan has designed for Tina Turner and other celebrities and is the host of his own long-running German television show, "Rick's Wohnwelten" ("Rick's Living Worlds"). His style is to focus on bathroom and kitchen furniture and spaces and then design around them. He became interested in the possibilities of using fiber optic lighting because of its beauty, design possibilities, and technological advantages. For instance, because fiber optic lighting carries no electricity, it is ideal for bathroom and kitchen spaces, where water poses a constant hazard. But Fiberstars EFO light is also brilliant, with output levels equivalent to halogen bulbs, but consuming only a quarter of the energy of halogens. By combining these attributes with the ability to change colors, design unique fixtures and utilize cutting edge materials (like a glowing fiber shower curtain), Mulligan has designed dazzling interiors, some of which he demonstrates in his Duesseldorf studio. He is currently planning to open other design shops featuring Fiberstars technologies in Vienna, Munich and other European cities. The Rick Mulligan showroom can be found at www.rmbaeder.de .
"Rick's eagerness to work with us is a testament to the versatility of EFO technology which lends itself to the artistic as well as the functional elements of lighting," said Fiberstars CEO John Davenport. Bernard Mann, managing director of Fiberstars' LBM division, added, "Lighting is a key component of interior design and the strength of our offering lies in the adaptability of EFO our technology combined with its efficiency in comparison to traditional lighting alternatives. We're thrilled to be working with Rick and his team and look forward to contributing to the imaginative and creative designs which have been a staple of his numerous installation projects."
